On Lammas we come together to honor the gods, who we hope have been generous through our planting seasons! Our Lammas ritual celebrates both the harvest and the sacrifices we make each year with the sacrifice our breadman.
What do we mean when we say "sacrifice" in relation to modern Wiccan practice? Similar to the topic of sexuality and fertility, we look to acknowledge sacrifice as it exists within the cycle, the world, our communities, and in ourselves.
Lammas is traditionally celebrated on August 1st and is the midway point between the Summer Solstice and the Autumn Equinox, and one of four Gaelic seasonal festivals, along with Imbolc, Beltane, and Samhain .
