Who We Are
Blue Star was founded in the mid-1970s, and traces its lineage back through the American Welsh and Alexandrian traditions (you can learn more about Blue Star Wicca here).
Haven Song was founded in 2010 as a study group, led by a practitioner who was a Neophyte at the time. She has since undergone all three Blue Star initiatory rites of passage, and obtained the sublime degree. In the intervening time Haven Song blossomed into a full-fledged Coven and Grove.
Over the years, our membership has hovered around a half dozen seekers, laity formally attached to the Tradition (Dedicants and Neophytes), and Initiates. Our Initiates hail from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We grew up in tiny rural towns, and in big bustling cities. We have degrees in fine arts, and in the sciences. We are homemakers, registered nurses, professional educators, death midwives, birth advocates, parents, so much more. We use our collective breadth of experience and knowledge to serve our shared community.
Our open sabbat rituals, though firmly rooted in the Blue Star Tradition, are written and revised on each turn of the Wheel of the Year. Our goal is to ensure that we honor the needs of the moment, even as we acknowledge and celebrate the cycles of nature.
We continually strive to make our rituals and other gatherings welcoming spaces for everyone, most especially those people belonging to otherwise marginalized groups. Blue Star Wicca is intentionally without a single, central power, and consequently has no official mechanism for banishing or repudiating its members - however, we have taken strong stances against toxic members of our Tradition when needed, as linked below, and will again if required.
We appreciate your time in learning about us! Maybe we'll see you in Circle soon. Blessed Be!
