As we have established, Beltane is a time for celebrating the Divine Union and fertility – however! Not all of us are (or have ever been, or may ever be) at a point in our lives where our sexuality or fertility will be of particular relevance. As such, Haven Song chooses to broaden our view from procreation to creation.

For the purposes of our ritual, we transformed tambourines into interactive charms with the help of the Goddess Kore and the God Dionysus! We chose tambourines, but any music-/noise-making item can fit the bill for this charm spell.

A Motivating Charm Spell

It's probably a good bet that everyone reading this – being human – has at least one half-finished project.  In preparation for this spell, take the time to identify a project, maybe one you've bought supplies for, but haven’t started. Or maybe the idea for a project that's been on the edge of your fingertips lately.  This could be anything, from crocheting a blanket for your own bed to building a community garden space, trying that new recipe or finishing that poem.

Cast your Circle or otherwise get ready to Work. You'll start by asking Kore and Dionysus to bless your tambourine (or other), and then you'll charge your charm with a little of your own energy and intentions. Hold your instrument and recite:

Kore, I ask that you bless this tambourines that it may carry the same potential that is stored in a seed or sapling.

Dionysus, I ask that you bless this tambourine that it may inspire me to sing or dance, to play upon the stage or page, or to otherwise create.

A tambourine with floral sides and gold chimes sits on top of a black-and-white laurel wreath; inside the circle of the tambourine are a drama "smiling/crying" mask, a number of music notes, an open book, and an ancient Greek dancer.

Now close your eyes and bring your project to mind. Imagine completing it, holding or seeing or feeling its completion. Think of how good it will feel when it’s done.  Hold onto that feeling while you shake your tambourine.  Make some noise!

That sound is the sound of your finished project calling back to you through time, urging you to get to work. When you feel fully charged with energy and purpose, seal the spell by saying:

So mote it be!

---

Now that your charm has been blessed by the Gods, and charged with your intention, keep it somewhere that it will serve as a reminder to work on your project.  Don’t put it away with your project, if that is the type of project it is, but instead in a space nearby that encourages you to see your charm, use it, and roll the energy and motivation it brings immediately into your project.

Good luck and happy creating!

Blessed Be!
